The short answer
Reliable Wallpaper Installer serves Ojus, an unincorporated Miami-Dade community about six miles east of Miami Gardens. We install, remove and repair wallcoverings, help you pick humidity-friendly materials and give you a simple checklist to prepare the room.
Ojus is an unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, roughly six miles east of our shop in Miami Gardens. Because it has no city government of its own, residents sometimes describe their address by the larger neighboring areas, yet the homes here have their own mix: single-family houses, townhomes and apartment and condo buildings in close proximity. What Ojus homeowners usually want to know is less about geography and more about the job itself. How do I choose a material that survives the humidity? What should I do before the installer arrives? How long until I can use the room again? This page answers those questions directly and explains how we handle wallpaper work in the community.
Picking a material that suits a humid home
The single biggest decision is the type of wallcovering, and in this part of Florida moisture should drive it. Here is how the common options compare in everyday use:
- Nonwoven papers breathe, stay dimensionally stable and strip off in full sheets later, which makes them a sensible default for bedrooms and living areas.
- Solid vinyl resists splashes and scrubbing, so it belongs in kitchens, laundry rooms and bathrooms with good ventilation.
- Grasscloth and other natural weaves bring texture and warmth but stain more easily and do not like steam; dry rooms only.
- Peel and stick products suit small, low-risk areas such as closet backs, bookcase panels or a rental accent wall on smooth paint.
- Murals are printed on several substrates, so we check which one yours uses before deciding on paste and primer.
- Commercial-grade vinyl fits home gyms, mudrooms and garage offices that take knocks.
Your checklist before install day
A little preparation on your side makes the work faster and protects your belongings. We ask Ojus clients to do the following, and we handle everything else:
Clear small items, artwork, shelves and curtains from the walls being covered, and move fragile furniture out of the room if you can. We will shift heavy pieces toward the center and cover them. Keep the air conditioning on for a day or two beforehand so the room settles to a steady temperature and humidity. Store the wallpaper rolls inside the house, not in a hot garage, so they acclimate. Check that the roll labels all show the same batch or run number; mixing runs causes visible color differences. Finally, plan for pets and children to stay out of the room while paste is wet.
What happens on our side
When we arrive, we protect floors, remove outlet covers and inspect the walls once more. If old paper is present, we strip it, wash off residue and repair any damage. Drywall that tore during removal is sealed before skim coating, because water-based compound on raw drywall paper causes bubbles. After priming, the surface is ready for the new material.
Installation itself follows the manufacturer's directions for paste type and soaking time. We hang from a plumb line, match seams carefully and trim at ceilings and baseboards with fresh blades so edges stay crisp. Accent walls, ceilings and murals each get their layout planned in advance.
How long until the room is usable?
A single accent wall is often complete in a day, while a full room with removal and repair may take several visits, mostly because compound and primer need drying time. You can walk through and use the room once we finish, but we suggest waiting a few days before hanging heavy frames and keep the air conditioning running so the paste cures evenly.
Season matters. From May through October, South Florida is hot and wet with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so drying stretches out. November into April is warmer and drier, and preparation moves faster. During hurricane season, from June 1 to November 30, we stay flexible and rebook if a storm threatens.
