The short answer
Reliable Wallpaper Installer works throughout Golden Glades, a few minutes east of Miami Gardens. We handle traditional and peel and stick wallpaper, removal, murals and wall repair for homes, rentals and small businesses.
Golden Glades is only about four miles east of our Miami Gardens workshop, one of the shortest drives on our schedule. That short distance makes small jobs practical: one accent wall, a powder room, or a quick consultation to sort out which paper will suit a room. The community is unincorporated Miami-Dade, with a mix of single-family houses, townhomes and apartments, so we see every kind of wall here, from original plaster in older ranch homes to builder-grade drywall in newer units. Each calls for a slightly different approach, and we explain the differences before you buy a single roll.
Traditional paper or peel and stick?
This is the most common question we hear from Golden Glades residents, especially renters and owners of rental units. Peel and stick products are tempting because they promise easy removal. They work well on smooth, freshly painted, sealed walls in rooms that stay cool and dry. On textured walls, in steamy bathrooms or on walls that get afternoon sun, they tend to lift at the edges.
Traditional pasted papers cost more effort up front but bond more reliably, especially through a humid Florida summer. Many modern non-woven papers are also strippable, coming off in full sheets when it is time for a change. For a lease where the landlord wants walls returned to paint, either path can work if the wall is primed correctly first. We will tell you honestly which one fits your room.
Kitchens, baths and laundry rooms
Wet rooms are where wallcovering choices matter most. Steam from showers, splashing near sinks and heat from dryers all stress adhesive. In a South Florida house, add months of outdoor humidity from May through October, when the AC is fighting moisture every afternoon.
For these spaces we recommend scrubbable vinyl or a paper with a protective coating, a mildew-resistant primer, and caulked edges at backsplashes and tub surrounds. We also check that exhaust fans actually vent and run long enough, since good ventilation protects a wallcovering more than any product label.
Our prep checklist before hanging
Skipping prep is the main reason wallpaper fails early, so every Golden Glades job follows the same sequence, adjusted to what the wall needs.
- Remove any old paper, backing and residual paste
- Fill holes, nail pops and cracks, then sand them flush
- Knock down or skim heavy texture where a smooth paper is planned
- Check exterior-facing walls with a moisture meter
- Apply a primer made for wallcovering so the surface seals evenly
- Snap a plumb line so the first strip, and every strip after it, runs true
Removal-only and repair jobs
Not every call is about putting paper up. Plenty of people buy a home with dated borders, faded florals or a bathroom covered in vinyl that has started peeling at the seams. We take those coverings down, deal with the adhesive left behind, and repair the drywall or plaster so the room is ready for paint or a fresh paper.
If the previous installer hung paper straight onto unprimed drywall, the facing paper may tear during removal. That damage is repairable with skim coating and a sealer, and we factor that in when we look at the wall.
Scheduling notes for this part of the county
Because we are so close, short-notice visits are easier to fit in here than in farther towns. We still avoid installing during an active storm watch in hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30, because a power outage that shuts off the AC can slow curing and soften fresh seams.
We also cover the communities around Golden Glades, including North Miami, North Miami Beach and Opa-locka, plus West Park and Pembroke Park just over the Broward line. Small offices and storefronts in the area can book commercial vinyl wallcovering on a schedule that keeps the business open.
